On the three hour drive from Quito to Hacienda Manteles, you can admire the magnificent Avenue of the Volcanoes; which passes among others by the famous Cotopaxi Volcano (5879 m). During the visit of Cotopaxi we go up, by car, close to the first refuge and then hike to it. There is a lagoon were a picnic can be done, while one admires the colosal Cotopaxi and other smaller mountains that surround it (Rumiñahui, Pasochoa, Sincholagua).
